First night and day in Lima

We had a smooth transition from the airport to the hostel. We were given a smart room in the block of apartments opposite. We shared the apartment with a lovely couple from UK.
Did the earth move for you? Nope! The lady earthquake in Lima was 6 years ago but, last night, apparently, there was another only 27 miles away!

After a fantastic breakfast of fresh orange juice, granola, fresh fruit salad, yoghurt and a latte (all for less than €5)we started our first day out in Lima.
My breakfast companion.

We did some walking, covering almost 20k steps. Not bad for me with a knackered knee and Colin with his arthritic ones 😂

Colin spotted a bloody Irish bar in the middle of town.

First stop was Huaca Pucllana, a pre Inca pyramid constructed of hand made clay blocks. We needed to find the entrance so, I decided we should turn left and start walking as there was no signage. We ended up walking around the whole perimeter, for 20 minutes, in blistering heat, before arriving 50m from where we started; the entrance!!

Before we started the tour, we popped into the rather posh restaurant nearby for coffee and cheesecake. This holiday was supposed to get me back into shape but it's not started well 😔
Next we walked down to the coast. Lima is on the Pacific and is a surfer's paradise.

We visited the Chinese garden, created to celebrate Peru’s 200th anniversary of independence as well as 172 years of Chinese immigration to Peru and 50 years of diplomatic relations between Peru and China, the park was inspired by the typical Chinese gardens radiating peace, tranquility, and harmony.

We continued to walk along the coast, past the lighthouse garden and the Garden of Love
The whole place has a lovely vibe.

Finally, we walked back through the centre of Miraflores and had something to eat. Of course, nothing runs smoothly, especially Google maps 🤣 I programmed maps to get us back to the hotel but 1. I'm shit at map reading and 2. So is Google maps. However, Colin isn't. Google told me to turn around and I was adamant that we should put our faith in old Google until Colin pointed out that straight behind us was the fkn ocean!

Good food for a fiver! The stuff in the tiny dish was pure evil. It destroyed my taste buds as soon as it hit my tongue. It was so hot 🔥
On the way back to the hostel, we spotted a tiny bookshop near where we stayed.
Are now on the overnight sleeper bus to Trujillo but I'm not sure how much sleep well get. The roads are still manic and gridlocked and honking your horn seems to be a hidden section in their highway code. It makes Hanoi look relaxed!!!
